Synthetic Wigs

They do not end to last as long as human hair because it tends to easily tangle and frizz. This is especially common in wigs that are of longer length.

The tangling is known as “friction frizzing” and tends to occur where the hair fibre is rubbing against clothing or the backs of chairs or pillows if the wig is worn to bed (not advisable). The hair fibre becomes damaged through the rubbing process and appears dry, broken and damaged. However, the quality of hair varies greatly, and if well maintained, synthetic hair can look as good as, if not better than human hair.

Synthetic hair is much less expensive than human hair. Heated appliances such as curling tongs and straighteners should not be used on synthetic hair.
