Not all chemotherapy treatments cause hair loss, but the drugs that do can cause hair to get thinner and in some cases to fall out completely. In some cases hair loss can be from other parts of the body as well as the head.

Rest assured though that if the hair does fall out it will grow back again after the treatment is finished. After 4-6 months the hair should have grown back fully.

Radiotherapy treatment to the head always causes some hair loss. After radiotherapy it may take more than 6 months for your hair to grow back.

You may find it helps to cut your hair very short before your treatment starts. This can be a way of getting used to seeing yourself with less hair or without hair.
